Gallery: Giro d’Italia Women

Behind-the-scenes for 9 days of explosive racing in Italy

Drama, intrigue, unpredictable racing, and an extraordinary fight for the GC, the Giro d’Italia Women had it all.

But, at the end of the 1,151-kilometer stage-race, the team of Barbara Malcotti, Thalita de Jong, Nina Buijsman, Carlotta Cipressi, Marit Raaijmakers, Lily Williams and Maggie Coles-Lyster all made it to the final finish line in Saluzzo, closing the book on an inspiring chapter in Italy.

Having made gains on a stage curtailed by natural events, Buijsman jumped a further place on the final day to finish 19th overall, shepherded by her teammates Malcotti and de Jong. It drew a close to a consistent week at the second Grand Tour of the year that saw both Williams and Coles-Lyster scoring WorldTour stage podiums.

All in all, the team ignited the sparks of momentum created at La Vuelta Feminina and will now hope to carry that torch into the biggest race of the season, August’s Tour de France Femmes.

For now, go behind-the-scenes in our race gallery and relive the intensity and the passion of La Corsa Rosa.
