Who’s competing at this week’s national championships

Our riders are taking one the most important weeks of racing of the season as they aim for victory in their respective national championships, a huge mark on any rider’s palmarès.

France 🇫🇷

Audrey Cordon Ragot
Time trial, June 20 | Saint-Martin-de-Landelles (35.2km)
Road race, June 22 | Saint-Martin-de-Landelles (125.8km)

Audrey Cordon-Ragot has her eyes on a ninth national title in the hills around Saint-Martin-de-Landelles. The road race is a very hilly affair indeed with 2,095 meters of climbing. The time trial starts in the shadow of the beautiful Mont Saint-Michel tidal island before finishing on the same climb as the road race.

Germany 🇩🇪

Romy Kasper
Time trial, June 21 | Donaueschingen – Bad Dürrheim (30.6km)
Road race, June 22 | Donaueschingen – Bad Dürrheim (76.7km)

Romy Kasper will also double up and has medals on her mind on the two hilly courses that face her in the Black Forest. Maybe some tasty gateau will welcome her after.

Great Britain 🇬🇧

Alice Wood
Time trial, June 19 | Catterick (30km)
Road race, June 23 | Saltburn-by-the-Sea (130km)

This is Alice Wood’s final national championship and she will hope for a sprinkling of the same magic that took her to a double title win in 2019. The same hilly course as 2023, the road race in North Yorkshire is a brute with 2,052 meters of vertical gain.

Italy 🇮🇹

Barbara Malcotti, Katia Ragusa, Silvia Zanardi
Road race, June 22 | Bagno a Ripoli – Scarperia (130km)

It’s a hilly but not mountainous course in Italy this year which could suit the punchiness of Katia Ragusa and will certainly favor climber Barbara Malcotti who placed fifth in 2023. Silvia Zanardi could also infiltrate a breakaway that takes it to the line but all three will have to watch out for the might of Lidl-Trek’s Elisa Longo-Borghini and Gaia Realini.

Poland 🇵🇱

Daria Pikulik, Wiktoria Pikulik
Road race, June 23 | Płock (138km)

Sister act Daria and Wiktoria Pikulik are back racing on the same team in a championship race. Daria will be the favorite in a sprint with Wiktoria able to win from a small breakaway.

Switzerland 🇨🇭

Linda Zanetti
Time trial U23, June 20 | Aire-la-Ville (15.4km)
Road race, June 22 | Aire-la-Ville (107.8km)
Road race U23, June 30

Linda Zanetti will compete in three races this June. The 21-year-old will compete in the under-23 time trial as well as the elite road race before trying to defend her title in the under-23 road race a week later.

Ukraine 🇺🇦

Yuliia Biriukova
Time trial, June 18 | Lviv
Road race, June 22 | Lviv

A national champion jersey means a lot to any athlete. Still, with racing returning to Lviv in Ukraine – Yuliia Biriukova’s home city – the 26-year-old has two chances to bring representation to the Women’s WorldTour.
