About Wessel

A promising talent, young sprinter Wessel is a crucial part of the lead out train. Like other powerful bunch sprinters, such as Marcel Kittel, Wessel started off in the sport as an accomplished time trialist at junior levels. He then showed his qualities in bunch sprints in 2021 where he finished second twice and won the points classification at Course de la Paix U23. He won a bunch sprint in the Flanders Tomorrow Tour and placed seventh in a quality field at Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen.

Wessel follows a motto coined by ex-professional and gravel racer Laurens Ten Dam of “beter worden,” – which translates to “becoming stronger” – and uses it as motivation. The Dutchman is also a dedicated fan of the country’s biggest soccer team Ajax and plays FIFA in his downtime.
