Racing on two continents lead into Amgen Tour of California

The men and women of Rally UHC Cycling will tackle two stages simultaneously this week, with New Mexico’s Tour of the Gila and England’s Tour de Yorkshire.

The Tour of the Gila (May 1 – 5), in the heart of the New Mexico desert, is one of the United States’ longest running UCI stage races. It represents one of the women’s team’s major goals of the 2019 season and includes opportunities for sprinters and climbers alike to make their mark.

The women’s team, fresh off a mini-camp in Santa Fe to prepare for Gila and the upcoming Amgen Tour of California, will attack the race on all fronts with a well-rounded roster. Look out for the potent climbing duo of Krista Doebel-Hickok and Sara Poidevin on the race’s infamous Gila Monster climb.

The fifth edition of the Tour of Yorkshire (May 2 – 5) has been upgraded to HC status by the UCI, and the world’s top teams will be in attendance. It encompasses all four corners of beautiful Yorkshire county, rolling through 150 villages, towns and cities along the way.

Despite the pristine setting, the race is extremely challenging, with a variety of difficult terrain. Colin Joyce delivered big for the men’s team at last year’s Yorkshire race, finishing inside the top ten on three consecutive stages en route to finishing 11th overall.
