Kathrin Schweinberger raced consistently across three stages to place third on the overall final classification at the Tour de Pologne Women.
A small, but mighty team of four worked to deliver the Austrian champion to the two crucial intermediate sprint points on the 128.2 km route from Naleczow to Krasnik, where she secured the time to leapfrog onto the podium.
“This is such a nice feeling that we have achieved something like this,” beamed the 28-year-old. “I could feel that we all went 110% for the intermediate sprint, and we did a super good leadout, and you know others have more riders to win the sprint, but it was important for us to get the seconds.”
Schweinberger could count on Silvia Zanardi, Yurani Blanco and home rider Wiktoria Pikulik throughout the three days of racing.
“They really took care of me,” she explains. “They brought me everything I needed, especially water, because it was super hot today. It’s a podium for the whole team, riders and staff.”
The result marks Schweinberger’s first GC podium for Human Powered Health and sixth podium for the Austrian in 2025.
“I really enjoyed the last three days,” she says. “Today, the team protected and gained a place on GC, and day by day, I felt stronger. I hope for more and better going forward, and, of course, it was a bit difficult because of our numbers, so every move you have to take, wisely, but we gave our best, so to come away with third on GC, we can be happy about that.”
The team now heads into a block of one-day racing with GP Lucien Van Impe and Kreiz Breizh Elites, before closing out August at the Women’s WorldTour Classic Lorient Agglomération.
