Human Powered Health is excited to welcome back puncheur Nina Buijsman, signing through 2026.
After two years racing at FDJ – SUEZ, the 27-year-old returns to the team with renewed confidence and perspective, and a deep appreciation for the team’s culture.
“It feels like coming home,” Buijsman said. “The years that I was here, it felt like a family. It felt so good with the riders, with everyone. At that point, I thought it was good for me to move away to progress in my role, but now I’m really excited to be back.”
In her first stint on the team, Buijsman scored podiums at the WorldTour level at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, Tour Down Under and Vuelta a Burgos. In her first year on FDJ – SUEZ, she scored her biggest victory yet, winning stage 3 of Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l’Ardèche
“It was a really good experience,” she reflected. “I learned a lot, not just about the legs or fitness, but about how to win races as a team and how to get there. That’s an important skill to have, no matter your role.”
Buijsman’s return comes as Human Powered Health continues its evolution.
“We are delighted to welcome Nina back to the team,” says Ro De Jonckere, General Manager. “Nina is a pure racer. We have been watching her develop over the past two seasons and believe that this is the time for her to further her skillset in our team environment.”
- A WorldTour podium the first time around.
- Backing up performances down under.
Buijsman has noticed the transformation firsthand.
“There are a lot of new faces, of course, but it’s still the same vibe, that family feeling,” she said. “It feels like one team. It’s professional, but not strict or pressured. It’s the same as it was, but different, in a really good way.”
That sense of balance is central to the team’s identity. For Buijsman, integration of movement, fuel, mindset and recovery in all facets of performance was a major draw.
“It’s really important,” she explained. “I’ve seen how crucial all those details are with nutrition, recovery, and the mental side. Now, this team has all of that too. With experts on the staff, everything is in place. It helps so much for what you can do on the bike.”
Buijsman recently completed testing at the Human Powered Health Performance Lab in Wellesley, MA, describing it as both a scientific and social experience.
“It’s my first time at the lab and it’s really good,” she said. “All the testing gives you such a good baseline for the season, and it’s also great for team building. You meet the people behind the lab, the team behind the team, and it’s great to see how involved they are.”
Looking ahead to 2026, Buijsman’s goals are clear.
“Last year I lost myself a bit,” she said. “So this year I really want to be myself again. Race like me, go full into it, and make that progress again. I want to do well in the big races with Barbara and Thalita and help the team get the best results possible.”
Stay tuned for one further announcement as our 2026 roster takes shape.
