Marta Lach has signed with Human Powered Health from 2027, bringing one of the peloton’s most versatile and determined riders to the team.
The Polish rider joins from Team SD Worx – Protime through 2028. Lach counts 16 professional victories, including two stages and the GC at the 2024 Tour of Chongming Island, Nokere Koerse in 2025, and a three-peat of wins at Festival Elsy Jacobs à Garnich from 2024 through 2026.
“It’s an international team, and the happiness that I see between the girls, and the mentality to push forward, and to be happy on the bike drew me to the project,” the 29-year-old said. “This environment seems to be a good one for me. I believe that with the team, we can achieve a lot. Also to grow as a person and as a rider.”
Lach arrives with a reputation for thriving across a wide variety of terrain and conditions. From hilly one-day races to fast finishes and the chaos of the Belgian classics, Lach has repeatedly shown that she can be a factor wherever the race takes her. Her affinity for the classics is particularly clear.
“I’m really good in the classic races, especially the crazy ones, you know, like Antwerp or Roubaix,” she says. “But I also really like sprints after a hard race.”
That combination of resilience and finishing speed has become one of Lach’s defining strengths. She describes herself as someone who simply refuses to stop fighting.
“I have this mentality to keep going, to never give up,” she says. “I’m very ambitious, always fighting until the end.”
This ambition was quickly noticed by Human Powered Health.
“When Marta’s agent called me to tell me about her interest in joining Human Powered Health, we did not hesitate for a second,” explains Ro de Jonckere, General Manager. “The deal was done within 24 hours, which says a lot about how strongly we believe in Marta and what she can bring to this team. She is an incredibly strong and versatile rider, with all the qualities we love to see in an athlete. As we continue our commitment to building Human Powered Health into a top WorldTour team, Marta is one of our key signings for the next two seasons. We feel she fits our philosophy perfectly, and we are very excited to have her join us.”
Now, Lach is eager to bring those qualities to Human Powered Health and continue developing them within a new team environment.
“I would really love to use this potential, and I hope in Human Powered Health we can really use it as an advantage,” she says. “I hope to grow also in this even more, and to strengthen the team with these values that I have.”
Now, a new chapter awaits, but Lach grew exponentially on Team SD Worx – Protime, taking pride in how the team helped her to develop.
“I’m grateful for the past, for these people that I’ve had the chance to meet along the way, and I look back on this time with gratitude,” Lach says. “Now, I’m excited to take the new step of my career.”
As a child, Lach loved sport but had no idea which discipline would eventually become her career. Then, after watching the 2008 Olympics, she decided she wanted to become an athlete. A rainy school cycling race provided the unlikely starting point.
“I actually didn’t want to go at this moment because it was raining,” she recalls. “But then I went there, and I won the race. I was in front of all the boys also. I beat them.”
A coach invited her to join a cycling team, but Lach initially resisted. With five brothers and a family that had no background in cycling, she was reluctant to ask her parents to spend money on an expensive new sport. Instead, she found another local team, borrowed her mother’s phone and called the coach herself.
“I asked, ‘Hello, can I join the team?’ And he said yes,” Lach says.
Her first race did not exactly go to plan. But, as she amusingly recounts the story, although she crashed on a downhill and finished last, she was hooked.
“After that, I just was fully into training and just having fun on the bike and being as good as possible every day,” she says.
Away from racing, Lach still finds that same sense of freedom around sport and the outdoors. She enjoys time on the water with her family, while music remains another passion, having played trumpet in an orchestra as a child and occasionally picking up the guitar.
