Arvid de Kleijn has emerged as a top-tier sprinter during the Tour of Turkey, finishing fourth on stage 4 into Kemer. The 27-year-old has placed in the top seven on four consecutive stages despite having only two race days in his legs heading into the race.
“The team was great once again with Zuk and P-A positioning me for the sprint,” said de Kleijn. “This is our first time working together and already we’re communicating quite well. Fourth place is okay but we really want to win another stage. I’m excited to see what we can do moving forward.”

Despite de Kleijn’s current standing in the overall, third on GC and Points behind the resurgent Mark Cavendish ( Deceuninck – Quick Step), the team will now shift its focus to GC leaders Gavin Mannion and Kyle Murphy.
“I hope we can get Kyle and Gavin in a good position for the climbs,” said de Kleijn. “They’re both in great shape. As for me, I think I’ll buy a bus ticket to the finish. It’ll just be a day of suffering in the grupetto.”
Thursday’s stage 5 sends the peloton to Elmalı (Göğübeli) for a climbing showdown that will likely decide the 2021 Tour of Turkey champion. The 20km mountaintop finish is similar to the queen stage in 2019 where Murphy finished inside the top 10.
Live streaming of the stage is available through GCN+. Coverage starts at 5 am CT and concludes at 7 am CT. Turkish broadcaster TRT SPOR will also be covering the race at no cost.
