The double marks 15 total titles for Christoforou

Antri Christoforou continued her incredible run of victories in the Cyrpus national championships, winning the road race and time trial titles.

The 31-year-old native of Nicosia, Cyprus now has 15 national jerseys in her palmarés, adding the latest with a solo victory over four laps of a rolling 20 kilometer course in Nicosia.

“It’s an honor to hold these titles for so many years in a row,” she said. “This is a special win for me on Mother’s Day and the best way to celebrate it because I love being a mom and a racer at the same time.”

She was keen to show her best for her friends and family on home roads.

“My husband was in the follow car. People from my first riding club, where I started cycling, were with my son Paul, my parents, my sisters, my nephews, all cheering me on the roadside from my village. It was special.”

The only Cypriot to compete in the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Christoforou has left an indelible mark on her sport in Cyprus. As a result, she is a huge source of inspiration and knowledge for young athletes in her country, a role she relishes.

“I really want to be able to help young girls survive the first years of racing. I can help them or motivate them, I will be very happy.”

Christoforou returns to stage racing in her national champion’s kit later this month at  Ruta Del Sol and Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées.
