Newly crowned Canadian road race national champion Allison Beveridge won the 10th anniversary Giro di Burnaby on Thursday night with a powerful sprint to cross the line ahead of Leah Kirchmann (Sunweb). Beveridge's win continued a strong week for the women’s team, having landed on podium eight times in six BC Superweek events.

“The race was an outstanding team effort with Monica (Volk) and Megan (Heath)trying to get a move away and putting pressure on the rest of the field, with Sara (Bergen) also throwing in some significant attacks," said Beveridge. “I tried to be a bit more conservative and wait for the finale. It was a long sprint with Leah to the line after a big lead out by Sara to get me to where I needed to be. It's really awesome to have had the month we've had. It's an excellent group of girls, and it's always lots of fun to always be gunning for the top step of the podium as a team.”
In eight BC Superweek podium finishes for the team, Beveridge has three; first in Burnaby, second in the MK Delta Lands Criterium and third in the Gastown Grand Prix. She also finished fifth last Saturday at the Ladner Criterium.
